The Zezula Foundation is committed to ensuring that zezulafoundation.org is accessible to people with disabilities. We strive to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Conformance status
This site is designed to substantially conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Substantially conform" means that some content may not yet fully meet the standard. Where this is the case, we are actively working to address it.
Measures we take
To support accessibility, this site implements:
- Semantic HTML — landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), proper heading hierarchy, and meaningful link text on every page;
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone;
- Skip-to-main-content link on every page;
- Visible focus indicators — keyboard focus is always visually distinguishable;
- Color contrast — body text exceeds WCAG AA contrast ratio against backgrounds (4.5:1 minimum); large text and UI elements meet 3:1;
- Touch target sizing — interactive controls are at least 44×44 pixels on touch devices (WCAG 2.5.5);
- Responsive design — content reflows for screen widths from 320px to 1440+ pixels and at 200% zoom;
- Reduced motion — animations honor the user's
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting; - Form labels — all form fields have programmatic labels;
- ARIA attributes — used appropriately to communicate state and structure to assistive technology;
- Image alternatives — informational images have meaningful alt text; decorative images are marked with empty alt and
aria-hidden.

Known limitations
The Foundation acknowledges the following known limitations and is working to address them:
- PDF documents — Some downloadable PDFs (annual letters, IRS determination letter) were generated outside this site and may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Alternative text formats are available on request.
- Third-party content — Donation processing, newsletter signup, and contact form services are operated by third parties; their accessibility is subject to their own conformance.
How we test
Accessibility is verified through:
- Automated testing during development (axe DevTools, Lighthouse);
- Manual keyboard testing on every page;
- Periodic screen reader testing;
- Annual full review by the foundation's web maintainer.
