Policy

Gift Acceptance Policy

What we accept, what we evaluate, and what we decline.

The Zezula Foundation accepts cash, checks, electronic transfers, publicly-traded securities, and grants from donor-advised funds and private foundations. Gifts of cryptocurrency, restricted stock, real estate, tangible personal property, and bequests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the board.

The foundation does not accept gifts that:

  • are subject to restrictions inconsistent with our three-pillar mission;
  • require the foundation to support specific candidates for public office or political organizations;
  • would create an unacceptable conflict of interest;
  • would jeopardize the foundation's §501(c)(3) status;
  • are anonymous in a manner that prevents reasonable due diligence.

For non-cash gifts above $5,000, the foundation will work with donors to ensure compliance with IRS Form 8283 substantiation requirements. The foundation does not provide gift valuations.

Designated gifts are deployed to the designated pillar. Undesignated gifts are deployed by board resolution across the three pillars based on annual priorities.
